After achieving all project goals within the E3D+ project, STP is now continuing it's engagement in the 3D printing within E3D+VET, a new project co-funded by the European Union which started in October 2017. Under the leadership of The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the project consortium includes also the following partner organizations:: CETEM, the Technology Centre based in Yecla (Spain); CEIPES, the International Centre for the promotion of education and development based in Italy; Pristalica, based in Spain and specialized in web development. Last but not least, the Consortium is pleased to have SEMKA on board, an organization which works in the field of teacher training.
E3D+VET aims at fostering Vocational Education and Training by developing a common methodology to improve the key competences of several subjects in iVET and cVET. At the same time, SEMKA will support the validation of the methods which will exploit the potential of 3D printing, a constantly growing technology which so far has been mostly applied to the industrial and retail sector, and is only recently emerging in educational curriculums.
On one side, E3D+VET aims at creating innovative education through the use of 3D printing. In order to reach this goal, specific and tailored training materials will be developed. These will later be uploaded and made available on a software platform for both teachers and students. The training materials will be protected under open licenses, alongside with software designs.
On the other side, the project aims at introducing systematic approaches and opportunities for the initial and continuous professional development of VET teachers, trainers and mentors in both school and work based environments. By training teachers, E3D+VET will create effective and innovative educational methods using 3D printing technology.
E3D+VET is expected to give a special contribution to strengthening the key competences in VET, while also promoting open and innovative practices in a constantly evolving digital area.
