Following the success of E3D+ project, STP is extremely glad to announce that it is participating as one of the project partners within 3D4KIDS, a new project co-funded by the European Union. 3D4KIDS started in October 2017 under the leadership of the Furness Academy, based in the United Kingdom. The promising Consortium includes also: IES, a state Secondary School based in Spain; SSOM, the Secondary School of Design based in Slovenia, CETEM, the Technology Centre based in Yecla (Spain); CEIPES, the International Centre for the promotion of education and development based in Italy; Pristalica, based in Spain and specialized in web development.

Based on the legacy and the results achieved within our previous Erasmus+ project (E3D+), 3D4KIDS aims at creating innovative education through the use and the exploitation of 3D printing as constantly growing technology which so far has been mostly applied to the industrial and retail sector, and is only recently emerging in educational curriculums.
On one side, 3D4KIDS will improve the knowledge of the teachers and give a great contribution to their teaching methods with specific training materials. Thanks to the knowledge that they will acquire, teachers will be able to create ground-breaking didactical exercises with the use of 3D printing technology.
On the other side, 3D4KIDS is offering a new innovative way of learning; in order to create educational models and objects using 3D printing, students will have to first make sure they learn about its structure and functioning before they can get to the practice. This will therefore give a great push to the students’ motivation. More importantly, students with attention deficit disorder can benefit from 3D4KIDS, achieving positive progress in school subjects.

To reach the objective, the Consortium will create two whole new software platforms, alongside with software designs. The platforms will offer more than just training materials; schools will not be limited by geographical issues anymore. They will be able to search for 3D printing service providers and get in touch with them. The platform will therefore function as a communication tool, but also as database, collecting information from both schools and providers.

3D4KIDS is expected to give a special contribution to strengthening the teaching profession, promoting the acquisition of skills and competences, but also to open and innovative practices in a constantly evolving digital area.
