With over 1 year of implementation of the international project CrowdStream, approved and co-funded by the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme, Styrian Technology Park (STP) is extremely glad to announce that the project has produced positive and satisfactory results so far. According to the regional profiles that the Consortium has published, more than 860 successful crowdfunding project campaigns were identified in the Danube region.
CrowdStream is represented by a promising Consortium which covers most of the Danube countries. Under the leadership of the Agency for European Integration and Economic Development, a fully mandated body based in Austria and approved by the European Commission, the Consortium includes 8 ERDF partners, 2 IPA partners and 6 international Associated Strategic partners. Some examples are UBBSLA, based in Bulgaria, the Slovak Business Agency (SBA), the Development Agency of Zagreb and even the University Of Belgrade, Serbia.
All of these partners and countries are coming together within CrowdStream in order to face a very serious challenge that small and micro enterprises are facing nowadays, that is to say financing. Availability of bank loans continues to be very limited and the lack of financial resources has a negative impact on each country’s economy. Regulations like Basel IV make it impossible to finance risky innovative businesses. Hence why, the objective of CrowdStream is to improve the effectiveness of public and private business support to access qualitative alternative financing: crowdfunding.
With a very clear idea of the difficulties that each country is facing especially with regards to crowdfunding, the CrowdStream Consortium went through very detailed market analysis and drew a Regional Action Plan, while also establishing a network with local stakeholders, marketing and financing experts, CF platforms and business incubators. Within this prospective, the most important step will be to train start-ups and social enterprises with very specific and tailored training material on crowdfunding.
With CrowdStream, we aim at initiating an effective and long-lasting change in the financing market. The main result will be an improved cooperation between business-support-organizations and enterprises to guarantee a qualitative access to crowdfunding.
